Your First Visit

Patient Forms

East Hills Chiropractic and Sorts Therapy welcomes you to our office and introduce you to our Office Mascot, Tucker.  We will ask you to check in and fillout patient forms that will provide our doctors with information on your condition, medical history, contact information and Insurance info.

If you would like to fill out your patient information forms before you come in, you can find them in The New Patient Center

Dr. Mark Mangold or Dr. Douglas Hankins will meet with you to discuss your health-related problems including pain, medical concerns, and potential treatment options. We take the time to get to know you, your health, your routine, and goals to build a treatment plan that will allow you to participate in the activities you desire and improve your overall quality of life.  We want you to feel better!  The best way we can do that is to take the time to get to know you.

After your consultation, Dr. Mark Mangold or Dr. Douglas Hankins will perform a complete chiropractic examination testing your reflexes and flexibility. Other standard neurological, orthopedic, postural, and physical tests will be performed as well. Each test will be explained and given your consent before it is performed.

X-Ray Studies

In many cases we require X-Ray scans to pinpoint the origins of your discomfort.  Every X-Ray scan is performed by the next door radiology lab where Radiologists perform and read your X-Rays.  Detailed Reports are given to Dr. Mangold and Dr. Hankins in state of the art digital format where they will go over the X-Rays with you explaining the results to you.

Report of Findings

Upon completion of examination and tests, Dr. Mangold and Dr. Hankins will discuss your current condition and recommend the best course of treatment for you.  Dr. Mangold and Dr. Hankins will answer every question you have and explain why your condition is best treated in the manner they have prescribed. Even if your current condition is not best treated in our practice, we will refer you to specialists or other providers to ensure you are getting the best treatment possible.

At the conclusion of this initial  appointment, you can choose to  experience your first treatment. The treatment sessions are interactive and we encourage you to express any concerns, discomfort or areas of sensitivity that may be uncomfortable during the treatment.

Many times the cause of discomfort is rooted in weakness of a muscle that forces another muscle to over compensate.  This causes an uneven pull or push on the skeleton that can pinch nerves, compress disks and cause pain.  The Dr. will pinpoint these stress areas and gently manipulate your body to adjust your skeleton back into its correct place. It is very common for patients to experience popping sounds as their joints realign during treatment.  Treatments can include spinal adjustment, stretching, massage and other various techniques to relieve tension and ultimately pain.

Wellness Program

Prior to leaving, the doctor will suggest a  wellness program  to incorporate outside of treatment.  If you are in pain when you first come into our office this may include: ice or heat application instructions, certain activities or positions to avoid, and at home exercises and/or stretches.  If you desire,  our wellness team will work with you also to create healthy habits and routines for your lifestyle.  Every person is unique, therefore everyone requires a  customized wellness plan.  The purpose  of our wellness program is for you to achieve good spinal alignment, relieve pain, have a  healthy diet, exercise, and maintain a positive mental state so you can do the things life requires you to do pain free.
